Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering at the YMCA
From the first moment you become a YMCA member, you have an opportunity to effect the Indianapolis community. But if you'd ever like to become more directly involved, consider becoming a YMCA volunteer. We have opportunities to suit your interests, talents, and lifestyle.

If you are ready to become a Y volunteer, download the Volunteer ApplicationAdobe Acrobat Reader or complete the Volunteer Contact Form to be connected with the Volunteer Champion at the YMCA branch of your choice. Click here for a listing of local YMCA branches.

Coaching Opportunities
At the West District YMCA we always welcome volunteer coaches for all sports. If you are interested here are some of the qualities that the West District YMCA requires for all coaches. Everyone plays. All participants receive equal practice time and equal playing time.
Safety first- Coaches are asked to check equipment, check facilities, and to gradually develop your players' fitness levels so they are conditioned for the sport.

Fair play- We ask that all coaches play by the rules and set a good example for the participants.

Positive competition- Coaches are asked to keep the pursuit of victory in the right perspective.

Family involvement- We ask all coaches to attempt to get all families of the participants involved.

Sport for all- We ask coaches not to discriminate based on race, gender, religion, or ability.

Sport for fun- We ask coaches to remember that the kids are the stars and to let them have fun.
